It is a collective effort by Visa (Verified by Visa) and MasterCard (MasterCard SecureCode) and is the most up to date fraud prevention method that is currently available. It protects you from unauthorized use of your credit or debit card with a 3rd party payer authentication process involving the card holder, the bank that process the payment and the card issuers either Visa or MasterCard.

3D Secure is the sole fraud prevention scheme that gives you the most protection in online transactions. It protects against unauthorized use of your credit or debit card by verifying your identity via password or code each time a purchase is made. The code is only known by the card holder and the issuer bank. It’s easy to use, makes online commerce safer and protects both merchants and purchasers.

The bank that issued your Visa or MasterCard card can give you the details on how to register to get your 3D Secure code. The service is free of charge. You will be asked to provide some personal data and create a code or password that will allow the bank to confirm your identity when making an online transaction.

You will be required to enter your 3D Secure code or password each time you make a deposit. When making your deposit you must select the credit or debit card payment option and enter the required data. A new window or popup will appear and will require you to enter your code or password that you defined when registering for 3D Secure at your bank. This window is noly visible by you as the card holder. Once you have entered this code, your card-issuing bank will authenticate you and approve the transaction so you can complete the payment process.
